Kitchen Island Design

Space
The first thing that you need to do is decide on the area where you would like to install the kitchen island. Traditionally, the perfect place for the kitchen island comprises of center of the kitchen, so that it becomes easily accessible from almost all the areas of the room. However, if you spend a considerable amount of your time working at the island, you may like to place it near the window. After deciding on the area for the island, measure the space that is available therein, so that you do not end up buying an island that is either too big or too small.

Requirement
After you have arrived on the approximate dimensions of your kitchen island, it is the time to delve upon the needs that you want the island to fulfill. For instance, if you need something to hold your coffee pot and toaster, a compact island, with limited storage space, will be the ideal choice. However, if you want the majority of your electrical appliances to go on the island, a big and sturdy frame will be required. Apart from the size, even the material of the kitchen island will depend upon your requirements; say butcher blocks for everyday use and stainless steel for serious cooking.

Budget
The money that you can afford to, or would like to, spend on the kitchen island will also determine the varieties that are at your disposal. Since the islands are available within a large range of price, you can be sure that you will be able to find one that suits your needs as well as economic constraints perfectly. In general, expensive materials and detailed construction in a kitchen island demand a higher price.
